Family VU Meter Completed Feb. 2006 Made for the “My FamiCase Exhibiton ’06” organzied by my good buddy Satoshi at Meteor. Be sure to check out other entries by PMKFA, Enami-san and Maeda-san of The King of Games, and manga superstar 2g. The VU meters actually work when hooked up to a sound source. I […]

Video Remote Control for Video Multiplexor Completed XXXX 2006 I picked up a new LCD monitor…actually, more than a monitor. It’s a lofi PMP made by DIFFE. It plays various types of media from SD cards. It also features a line-in for video. All in a nice small package. I chucked the original housing, bought […]

I realized that all this gear might not make sense, so I wanted to explain in a little more detail what’s happening with this project. I program drum patterns on the TR-606 drum machine (4). Rather than having it producing drum sounds, I’ve modded it to output 5v pulses. There are a total of 6 […]

Video Remote Control for Multiplexor Completed: November 2006 Using a small LCD monitor I found at a flea market, I built a personal video monitor which includes 12 control buttons for the multiplexor. The cable from the multiplexor also carries the video signal to the monitor, and 9v to power it. To cut down power […]

Sanding table Completed: Nov. 2005 The rim of the flight case had to be covered with aluminum u-trim (is that what that’s called?). The 5mm plywood I was using fit perfectly, but the ABS I glued to the wood made it too thick for the U-trim. I needed to sand down the edges of the […]

Flight Case Completed: December 2005 This has been the most expensive part of this famicom project, and one of the most time-consuming. Even typing about it makes me tired. I prefer to have my equipment in one self-contained unit, like the boxes I built for my Gameboy project. They’re easy to transport, and minimizes the […]

Famicom Power Supply Box Completed: Aug. 2005 8 famicoms could mean 8 AC adapters, and that’s way too heavy. I picked up a laptop-esque power supply (12v 5A), and put together a box of five 7805 voltage regulators and a cpu fan to keep it cool. It also powers the fan on the Multiplexor (69550014), […]

Famicom Controller Box Completed Sept. 2005 All 8 controllers mounted in a single unit. I had the aluminum cut at Tokyu Hands. The metal braces used to hold the controllers in place were cut with a Dremel and bent into shape. Update: Added hinges to the top of the unit so the box can be […]

Rapidfire Prototype Famicom Controller Completed September 2005 This test unit was built around a 555 timer IC. It’s used to “microsample” sound effects and songs at high speed. The rapidfire circuit has been incorperated into actual famicom controllers in 69550018.

External Trigger Unit for Famicom completed August 2005 These little boxes convert the trigger pulses into famicom controller data. The boxes connect to the famicom controller expansion port by using modded 15-pin dsub connectors. Data is transferred by 1/8” cables from the 606. A or B button data can be selected on each control box. […]
